Another one finished!
Yesterday I sanded & painted this hutch. Fun!!! I've run out of my favorite hardware, window pulls, so I just used what came with it. ;) I like it more than I thought I would!

Finished Products!
Finally finished some of my projects and even sold some. A few others are listed on Etsy. I don't when I will have time to create any more projects, but I'm going to order some more strip wood and maybe pick one day a month to work on it. :) My precious boys take up a lot of my time!!
I want to thank everyone who has been helpful to me in my journey of miniature creations. I have enjoyed learning from you and making new friends!

Susi @ MiniEdenTienda advised me on how to get the aged slightly 'dirty' look to this Flour Bin Hutch. Liquid Asphaltum, available here, cut with turpentine. If you are new to this, try it out on cardboard first to get the hang of it. It's easy to get too much and it is hard to clean off.
I think potatoes look cute in this drawer!
Maybe I did it the hard way, but this table took HOURS of hard work! If anyone has advice on how to do miniature carvings without killing your hands, I'd love to hear them! I just love the results... I had the best success with an exacto knife and sharp point tweezers.

Progress
My favorite project lately has been an old-timey flour bin. It had a light oak finish on it, so I sanded it down and painted it, then distressed it. It has a "metal" funnel and lid on a drawer. (not sure on the historically accurate description of this, but I think it's a potato bin? If you know please send me a message!)
Anyway, after looking at this incredible artisan's work, I contacted her about creating the metal look on the funnel and lid. She gave me great advice, and even though I can't compare with her expertise, I did it!
The finishing touched are yet to be added to this piece of history. I still want to make up my mind about drawer pulls, and I have ordered wallpaper for it as well.

Mini Eden order… July 20
I finally decided on a name for this blog, and eventually my Etsy store! I will call it Window Ledge Miniatures, as the window is my favorite part of my little kitchen! Every time I lift it’s panes, my imagination floats away on a cool breeze thick with the smell of a fresh rain and lilacs.
I received my order from Susi today! I received this horse hook, pitcher, silhouette black cow, sink scour pad / soap caddy, (now I just have to get a sink! He he) and carton of milk. Thanks, Susi!!
The Window Ledge! The distressing does not want to show up in pictures so I'm thinking I need to go at it again.
The flowers are my own dried creation.
Choices, choices, choices… July 11
Yesterday I received my room box kit in the mail. Yay! I purchased the Duplex 2- room kit from Hobby Builder Supply, it has precut windows & doors, but the wood is still in place so you just pop it out. Because of that, I have decided to omit one door and create an extra wall with the door in that one instead. (I love the fact I have this option!) Wallpaper will cover up the line where the door was originally meant to go.
As well as changing my plans for the door, I completely changed my floor plan for the layout of my kitchen upon the arrival of my kit. It is much more versatile than I imagined it would be. The middle wall can be placed anywhere, so instead of having two 12” long rooms, I have decided to go to one 15”, (main kitchen area) and one 9” room. (laundry/mud room)
My original thoughts were that the first 12” room would have the sink, stove, and some shelf room, and the 2nd 12” room would be more of a “pantry” and work area. I like my new layout better. The “mudroom” will be more of a bright area with some herbs, a few canned goods on shelves, and an old fashioned washing machine.
Another aspect I LOVE about this new “house” is the French door I purchased for the mid-room wall. It is beautiful!! I bought some T hinges to put on that I have been using “Blacken-It” on. They look dark and rusty now! J
Thanks again for reading my blog!
A Ray of Sunshine for your day… July 8
I have just recently stumbled upon a beautiful blog for old fashioned kitchen miniatures. The author also has an Etsy store where she sells her creations!
If you haven’t visited her blog yet, please do! You’ll be glad you did. J
