Yesterday I received my room box kit in the mail. Yay! I purchased the Duplex 2- room kit from Hobby Builder Supply, it has precut windows & doors, but the wood is still in place so you just pop it out. Because of that, I have decided to omit one door and create an extra wall with the door in that one instead. (I love the fact I have this option!) Wallpaper will cover up the line where the door was originally meant to go.
As well as changing my plans for the door, I completely changed my floor plan for the layout of my kitchen upon the arrival of my kit. It is much more versatile than I imagined it would be. The middle wall can be placed anywhere, so instead of having two 12” long rooms, I have decided to go to one 15”, (main kitchen area) and one 9” room. (laundry/mud room)
My original thoughts were that the first 12” room would have the sink, stove, and some shelf room, and the 2nd 12” room would be more of a “pantry” and work area. I like my new layout better. The “mudroom” will be more of a bright area with some herbs, a few canned goods on shelves, and an old fashioned washing machine.
Another aspect I LOVE about this new “house” is the French door I purchased for the mid-room wall. It is beautiful!! I bought some T hinges to put on that I have been using “Blacken-It” on. They look dark and rusty now! J
Thanks again for reading my blog!
